General maintenance of your DOLLE loft ladder

A loft ladder or loft hatch with a ladder generally requires no maintenance other than regular cleaning with a cloth wrung out in soapy water as needed. However, with minimal effort, you can keep the ladder's functions intact.

Ladder

Wooden ladders should be checked for moisture and signs of rot on the steps and side rails. Clean the ladder with a cloth wrung out in soapy water, ensuring no water is left on the ladder.

Aluminum ladders can also be cleaned with a cloth wrung out in soapy water.

Hatch

Clean with a cloth wrung out in soapy water.

If the loft hatch falls too quickly, the spring can be tightened by shortening or adjusting the chain or similar component attached to the upper frame.

Additionally, the strike plate for the lock can be adjusted to ensure the hatch closes tightly. Loosen the two screws and adjust the plate slightly up or down.
